Despite the fact that it very much has been officially confirmed, it still feels like an incredible dream that immortal goddess and morally unassailable queer icon Cher is headlining the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. For once, though, something that seems too good to be true is actually true and my stupid queer heart is vibrating at a level that would make a cardiologist deeply concerned.
In case you need a little reassurance that this isn’t some sort of cruel trick, I urge you to watch this delightful promo clip of an utterly radiant Cher saying how excited she is to be headlining and saying it’s time to celebrate because “we” (thoroughly thrilled to be in a ‘we’ with Cher, if I’m being honest) won the marriage equality ‘debate’:
