As the turntest event on the prepubescent calendar, the primary school disco really did live up to the hype each year.
Fanta was on tap, glow sticks were a mandatory accessory and the 40-year-old DJ always had frosted tips and/or the latest So Fresh CD on repeat.
But there always came a time in the night when the Spice Girls banger was paused for a moment to make way for a more iconic track: The Nutbush. As the funky guitar kicked in, everyone scrambled into formation – and as soon as Tina Turner belted out that first line, it was on for young and young.
All of this, of course, is probably a distant memory to you all. Until now.
Crane Dance Academy in NSW posted a vid on Facey overnight of their crew doing a floor-workout version of The Nutbush, and has high levels of nostalgia:
The crowd has well and truly gone wild, with 2.6k comments and a fair whack of likes on the vid at present. No word on when it’ll be picked up as Australia‘s answer to Zumba – but we pray it’s soon.
