I Tried Going On A TikTok Famous ‘Hot Girl Walk’ & Here’s My Verdict On The Trend

When Megan Thee Stallion released Hot Girl Summer in 2019, a cultural reset ensued.

Since the dawn of time, universal ideals surrounding ‘hotness’ have been skewed, exclusive and unrealistic. Although there is a lot of work to be done in the space of body positivity and diversity, there has been a huge movement towards self-acceptance and confidence in recent years that young women on the internet have spearheaded.

As Megan has professed throughout her sublime poetry over and over again, ‘Hotness’ is simply a way of thinking. It’s about believing in yourself and doing the things that truly empower you to thrive. Most of all, it’s about encouraging and enabling others to seek out ways in which they feel their best.

Now, the ‘Hot Girl Walk’ first emerged on TikTok around February this year, and I was simply obsessed as soon as it came to my attention. I was immediately swept away in the brash, celebratory and simple nature of it all.

Basically, the ‘Hot Girl Walk’ is a walk in which you can only think about the following three things.

  • What you’re grateful for
  • How hot you are
  • The things that you want to achieve

On the flip side, you’re not allowed to think about drama or discourage fellow hot girls on your walk. It’s purely about getting outside and doing something positive for your mental, physical and emotional health. In a world so dang full of negativity and pressure to be perfect, I, for one, am here for anything that is founded on good vibes only.

So, today on my lunch break (prime time for a Hot Girl Walk, tbh), I decided to try it all out.

It’s recommended the walk goes for around 6km. However, you can walk for as little or as long as you want. Comfortable shoes are a must for your hottie journey. Think about your shoes as a vessel that will carry you on your way to reach all of your hopes and dreams, no matter how big or small they are.

I opted for the New Balance ROAVs for my walk as they truly are fit to rise to such an occasion. They match the chosen walk fit perfectly (a huge plus already), they provide heaps of support for whatever level of stomping, running or brisk walking you may be doing, and are also sleek enough to showcase how much you love and respect yourself as well. They’ve also got strategic rubber placement in the soul to help you bounce through all of your hot girl activities with extra ease, and are made with foot-hugging mesh so you’ll be comfortable throughout your entire walk too.

In the spirit of the walk, I forced my brother to take a photo of me before I headed off on my journey.

She’s ready to think positively, besties. Also, look at those shoes, dayum.

While on my walk, I thought about how god dang grateful I am for the weather and how easy it is to get out and do stuff like this right now. I’m grateful for Olivia Rodrigo‘s album SOUR. I’m grateful for potato smilies making a comeback.

In terms of thinking about how hot I am – here’s a selfie to prove I was loving myself sick.

I kept my goals short-term for this – I want to write a song tonight, not snooze my alarm for an entire week and reply to ALL text messages within an hour of getting them.

Honestly, I returned to my desk feeling great. The verdict on the Hot Girl Walk – 10/10. Would recommend. Honestly the whole experience was so rewarding that I think I’ll dedicate my walk to the office when I next head there to being a Hot Girl Walk. I’ll wear the shoes as well to really elevate the whole experience.

Work mirror selfies, classique.

I feel like when it comes to taking care of ourselves, there can be so much intense pressure to do it “right”. Do the HIIT classes 5 times a week, drink the kale smoothie every day, meditate and journal for an hour every morning – you get the picture. The reality is sometimes that stuff isn’t entirely realistic or possible to maintain. We can get swept up in all of this and forget the simple pleasures like walking and positive thinking and the massive impact they can have on your health and wellbeing.

Sometimes the best thing to do on a day when you’re feeling blue (or on top of the world) is to whack your headphones in and go for a walk. Even without thinking about how hot you are or how grateful you are for things for 30 minutes – embracing the sun, getting fresh air and moving your bod is an A+ way just to reset and focus on yourself, which is all that really matters in the end.

You can cop your own pair of ROAV sneakers for your next hot girl walk at rebel right now.
