The film gods have done it folks because our ol’ teenage heartthrob Robert Pattinson and current heartthrob Timothée Chalamet will take to the big screen together in Netflix’s The King.
And it’s a period drama – tick, tick, bloody tick.
Co-stars include Lily-Rose Depp, Sean Harris, and our very own Ben Mendelsohn and Joel Edgerton.
Directed by David Michôd, the film is based on the Shakespeare plays Henry IV (Part 1 and 2) and Henry V. Chalamet will play the young, cocky, and cheeky bugger Prince Hal, who after the death of his older brother in battle, inherits the Crown and must lead England through war with France.
Shakespeare’s Prince Hal has been previously played by Kenneth Branagh and Tom Hiddleston so big shoes to fill although Chalamet will undoubtedly pull it off.
On its own, the film already sounds supremely epic.
Then today as per Deadline, Robert Pattinson was announced to join the cast as none other than the Dauphin of France aka the French Prince.
Yes, both our heartthrobs are playing princes.
Depp will play French Princess Catherine, Edgerton will play Henry V’s best friend Falstaff, and Mendelsohn shall be King Henry IV.
This will be Michôd’s second Netflix gig after his work on War Machine starring Brad Pitt. Edgerton also co-wrote the script for The King.
While we wait for this beauty to hit our screens, Chalamet has another flick coming out later this year by the name of Beautiful Boy and yes it will break your heart ten times over… just like Call Me By Your Name.
Beautiful Boy tells the true story of father David Sheff and son Nic, a former varsity athlete and honours student who becomes addicted to methamphetamine.
Based on David’s memoir of the same name, Beautiful Boy documents his experiences through his son’s battle with addiction.
So far we’ve only been dealt the teaser trailer but you can bet those 30 seconds will do things to your heart.
