Rami Malek Returns To His Edgelord Roots In The Final ‘Mr. Robot’ Trailer

This a casual reminder that before Rami Malek won an Oscar for portraying the most charismatic man to ever live, he was a brooding hacker in Mr. Robot. Malek has reprised that role for the show’s final season, and a fresh trailer revels in the dude’s on-screen intensity.

Minor spoilers for Season 3 ahead, but the show’s swansong sees Elliot (Malek) charging ahead with a plan the titular Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) thinks is too drastic – which is quite a lot, considering the latter’s own political machinations.

The final season comes after a batch of episodes critics lauded as the best in the show’s run, despite the show being overshadowed in terms of 2017 viewership by other prestige shows. You know, ones with dragons instead of hacking.

Speaking to EW in March, Malek said he trusted Mr. Robot showrunner Sam Esmail to end the show on a high (read: likely existentially devastating) note.

“I can say this, it is a very impactful, emotional, and I think clearly well thought out way to end this story and this series,” Malek said.

“It’s remarkable. I’m in awe of the man and what he has done this season.”

Mr. Robot season 4 will appear on Foxtel later this year.
