Excellent news people, the Downton Abbey film has officially wrapped filming meaning we are ONE STEP closer to being reunited with Dame Maggie Smith as the one and only Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham.

To celebrate, the series’ official Twitter account shared a blessed behind-the-scenes video from Highclere Castle, otherwise known as the lavish grounds of Downton.
We only get tiny snippets of the set in the vid but seeing Allen Leech AKA Tom Branson standing beside Hugh Bonneville AKA Robert Crawley is enough to make me emotional.

HYPE, HYPE, HYPE.
Downton Abbey thrusts us into the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who work at the humble abode. There’s drama – people die, people cry, scandalous babies are born, the whole shebang.
So far, we know the film’s screenplay was written by OG creator Julian Fellowes who’ll also produce the film. Michael Engler, who directed four episodes of the series, has since replaced Brian Percival as director.
The Crawleys – Michelle Dockery (Mary Crawley), Laura Carmichael (Edith Crawley), and Elizabeth McGovern (Cora Crawley) will return as will a handful of familiar faces. Yes, Matthew Goode is set to appear in the film as Mary’s husband Henry Talbot. His feature will be brief but we’ll still take it.
Unfortunately, Lily James – who starred as the rebellious but kindhearted Rose – will not be appearing in the film since her character’s story line took her to New York with husband Atticus Aldridge.
Per Variety, Downton Abbey the movie will be released September 13, 2019 in the UK so hopefully we’ll cop it in the same month.
