Dapper Lad Matthew Goode Is Set To Appear In The ‘Downton Abbey’ Flick

GOODE NEWS: Matthew Goode, exceptionally handsome bloke, will be making a cameo in that ginormous Downton Abbey film.

Yes, yes, YES.

In an interview with Radio TimesGoode confirmed he’d be back as the dapper as ever Henry Talbot (Lady Mary‘s husband) BUT, he’ll only be back for the end of the film.

Goode told Radio Times: “I’m just popping in at the end, which is a nice way to do it.”

Goode has been pretty busy with other film and telly projects so that might explain the cameo at the end of the film.

Sidenote: If you chuck ‘Matthew Goode’ into Google it literally comes up with ‘Goody’ as his name.

Meanwhile, Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, and Michelle Dockery are already locked in to reprise their roles.

Downton Abbey chucks us into the high-society life of the Crawley family and the servants who work at Grantham. There’s a lot of drama involved – some people die, some cry, there are a couple of scandalous babies, a ton of forbidden love affairs, and Theo James dies having sex.

Back when the news was still fresh, Deadline reported the film’s screenplay had already been written by show creator Julian Fellowes. Fellowes will also produce the film while Brian Percival, director of The Book Thief, North and South (!!!!)and the Downton Abbey pilot will helm the film.

Sadly, Lily James who played Rose in the series recently confirmed she would not be in the film because it doesn’t quite work for the plot.

Last time we saw Rose she was in marital bliss with Atticus Aldridge and mother to a wee little bub over in New York.

You can catch Goode in his latest fantasy series A Discovery of Witches where he plays vampire and professor Matthew Clairmont. The show will hit Sky1 on September 14.

There’s yet to be an official release date for Downton Abbey but we’ll keep you in the loop.
