Real Housewife Countess Luann Headed To Rehab After Drunkenly Kicking Cop

Over Christmas, Countess Luann de Lesseps reminded us of why she is still an MVP of the Real Housewives  franchise when she was arrested in Florida for an alleged drunken attack on a cop. Now, as the logical next step following this messy incident, the society maven has announced that she is checking into rehab to deal with alcohol issues.

Countess Luann, who has starred on eight seasons of The Real Housewives of New York City, released a statement overnight, saying simply:

“After the events of last Saturday night in Palm Beach, I am truly embarrassed. I have decided to seek professional guidance and will be voluntarily checking into an alcohol treatment center. My actions alleged in the police report do not reflect my core values and my law abiding character.”

The countess was taken to Palm Beach County Jail in the early hours of Christmas Eve, after her alleged altercation with an officer, during which she was heard to shout “I’m going to kill you all” at police and passers-by.

She was charged battery on an officer, disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest with violence, and crimes against a person, with an assistant state’s attorney telling the Palm Beach Post that a number of these are felony charges, which carry a potentially hefty penalties like fines and jail time.

In a statement to Page Six, Countess Luann blamed her behaviour on her recent divorce, saying that she had recently split from her husband Tom D’Agostino Jr, less than a year after the two tied the knot in Palm Beach. She said:

“This was my first time in Palm Beach since my wedding, and being here brought up long-buried emotions. I want to offer my sincere apologies to anyone I might have offended with my behaviour.”

She was released on her own recognisance, and is set to face court again on January 25.
