Real Housewife Kyle Richards Robbed Of More Than $1M In Jewelry In Break-In

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards and her husband, celebrity real estate agent Mauricio Umansky, have been robbed of more than $1 million in jewelry after a break-in at their Los Angeles home.

Richards’ and Umansky’s family home in Encino was broken into on Wednesday of this week, while the couple were away on vacation in Aspen. Per TMZ reports, the thieves broke in through a window and made off with a number of high-value items.

More than $150,000 worth of watches owned by Umansky were stolen, as was all of Kyle Richards’ jewelry, with the exception of pieces she had taken on vacation. A gold wedding band with a personal inscription and a $100,000 pair of earrings were also taken.

The thieves also grabbed a number of accessories, including HermesBirkin and Chanel bags belonging to Richards.

TMZ claim that thanks to a “misunderstanding”, the high-tech security system in the home, which was purchased this past October for $8.5 million, was not turned on. Thieves entered the master bedroom with a ladder, and were only detected when a sensor was activated in a closet.

Surveillance cameras at the seven-bedroom property were allegedly turned off due to “renovations”, and three family dogs, including a large German Shepherd, were away from home while completing a five-week obedience training course.

Umansky commented on the theft on Instagram, posting a series of vacation snaps with the caption:

“Nothing replaces family. They can steal your belongings but they can’t steal your memories or your love.”

Kyle Richards is the sister of former child star and Real Housewife Kim Richards and heiress Kathy Hilton, and the aunt of Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton Rothschild.

This festive season has been a tumultuous one for Real Housewives alumni, with Countess Luann de Lesseps of The Real Housewives of New York City being arrested in Palm Beach after allegedly assaulting a police officer during a drunken night out.

The Countess has since apologised for her actions and announced that she will seek treatment in an alcohol rehab clinic.
