Zach Braff’s ‘Garden State’ Follow-Up Exceeds Kickstarter Goal Of $2 Million

IN BLACK:

The SOUND OF A MAN LAUGHING MANIACALLY… FOOTSTEPS racing, traditional PARADIGMS OF FUNDING FILMS SNAPPING underfoot… His breath is heavy to feed his unstoppable art house pace.

INT. NEW YORK – MORNING
TIGHT on ZACH BRAFF (38) who overnight met his goal of crowd-sourcing $2 million on KICKSTARTER to fund WISH I WAS HERE, his directorial follow-up to GARDEN STATE co-written with his brother ADAM (40ish). He wears a HOODY with a TORN POCKET and the DRAWSTRING probably missing. He clutches in his fist at the time of publication $2,076,775 with twenty six days to go until his campaign finishes.
ZACH hears a NOISE. He looks up to see a large group of VOCAL DETRACTORS hovering in his @ mentions on TWITTER and in OP-ED columns on the INTERNET. They beep at him like R2D2, as if to say “You already have so much money, so why do you need ours to fund your personal art projects?”
ZACH’s FRANTIC FACE; he’s mustering positivity with every ounce of energy he has. “Final cut! Veronica Mars!” he yells, before Tweeting the following to reassure the 29,448 backers who have invested their life/waiting tables savings into his twee, truly indie rom-com:

Cut to IMOGEN HEAP (35) who has already intimated that she will contribute to the film’s OFFICIAL SOUND TRACK.

Welcome back, 2004. Fade to black; ‘Hide & Seek‘ plays as the credits roll.
