Ya Boi Donald Glover Just Took Home A Best Actor Golden Globe For ‘Atlanta’

Not only did Donald Glover‘s incredibly good first season of breakout sensation ‘Atlanta‘ scoop the Golden Globe for Best TV Series – Musical or Comedy, but the man otherwise known as Childish Gambino just had his own individual performance awarded with a Best Actor gong as well.
In somewhat of a boilover, Glover beat out the highly fancied Jeffrey Tambor (‘Transparent‘), as well as fellow nominees Anthony Anderson (‘Black-ish‘), Nick Nolte (‘Graves‘), and Gael Garcia Bernal (‘Mozart in the Jungle‘) to claim his first Golden Globe award in just his first year on the FX series.
Glover, who sensationally bailed on the Perth leg of the Falls Festival in order to attend the ceremony today (in retrospect, bloody good call, that) seemed a little overawed by the situation as he thanked his child and partner for “making me believe in people again,” and thanked the rest of his cast on ‘Atlanta.’

That gives Atlanta a perfect 2-0 record at this year’s Globes.

Hopefully it means that FX Australia will get off its butt and air the series locally at some point in the near future.
Fingers crossed, etc.
