The Rock‘s always been a brick shithouse of a human being, so imagining a pudgy version of him is about as far fetched an idea as it gets.
But thanks to the blessed Hollywood film industry and the advancements of CGI technology, that is a fantasy we have to merely dream of no more.
The new trailer for Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart‘s new buddy/cop/action/whatever film Central Intelligence opens by skipping back in time to when Rock’s character was but a wee rotund high schooler, lip syncing to En Vogue whilst naked in the shower.
Lord, how I wish any of that sentence were a lie.
The trailer paints a picture of a pretty formulaic buddy cop comedy – tough guy CIA agent and geeky accountant: TOGETHER AT LAST!
But I’d be lying if I said the tag line didn’t get me.
Credit where it’s due: “Saving the world takes a little Hart, and a big Johnson” is some fine work. Damn fine work.
Central Intelligence is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (who previously directed Dodgeball, Easy A, and We’re The Millers) from a script written by Ike Barinholtz (Frank “The Body” Gibiatti on The League and regular cast member on The Mindy Project) and fellow Mindy Project writer David Stassen. The cast also features Amy Ryan and Aaron Paul.
It’s due to hit cinemas on June 17th.
