In case you missed it: John Oliver keeps nailing targets as understudy host for The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, with his latest geographically-relevant segment in which he – quite rightly – takes aim at the farcical gaffe-fest that has been Australian politics in the lead up to the election.
Thanks to a massive team effort by Australian politicians Oliver has no shortage of categorically embarrassing material to choose from. He touches on the gamut of recent fuck ups including but not limited to: Liberal Party candidate Jaymes Diaz‘s train wreck attempt to explain HIS OWN POLICIES, Peter Dowling‘s regrettably graphic sext scandal (“That is disgusting,” says Oliver. “You do not pair a penis with red wine.”), and poorly informed One Nation candidate Stephanie Banister who Oliver describes as “turbo [Sarah] Palin”.
This is simultaneously great and terrible.
