The time is now to book a place on Gilligan’s Island: a previously uncharted tropical archipelago clusterfuck of television genius somewhere in the AMC Ocean. For the first time ever Skipper Vince Gilligan will be coming to Australia, as part of Sydney Writers’ Festival, to speak about his acclaimed experiment in television ante-upping during an in-depth conversation with Adam Spencer.
The news comes simultaneously with word that Bryan Cranston will be releasing a memoir based on his time working in the meth industry; Bryan Cranston at SWF ’15?
Jemma Birrell, Artistic Director of the Sydney Writers’ Festival, who had been trying to get Vince out for the past two years, said of her major coup: ”Vince is able to manipulate our sensibilities and make us question our own moral standpoint. The heart of the festival is books but the art of writing is not only in books.”
The rest of the festival is no less impressive with Eleanor Catton, Alice Walker, Archie Roach, Adam Johnson, Amy Tan, Gary Schteyngart, Emma Donoghue, A.M. Homes and Irvine Welsh all set to lay down some knowledge.
