Looks like the Golden Globes will be worth watching in 2014 and 2015, with news emerging today that supremely funny ladies and IRL BFF’S Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have signed on to host the awards ceremony for the next two years.
Amy and Tina took a gentle dig at Ricky Gervais‘ three-show Golden Globes hosting run in their opening monologue at this year’s ceremony (“As Ricky learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show two more times”) which has proven to be prophetic. Far from ‘running afoul’ of the HFP though, Poehler and Fey delivered the Golden Globes their highest ratings in six years, with an NBC representative saying in a statement today: “Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season… We’re elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years.”
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are becoming a must-have accessory for major awards shows. And with good reason – even when they’re not hosting they’re hilarious.
