Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Approached For 2nd Golden Globes Hosting Gig

Saturday Night Live alumni and best buddies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler totally nailed their gig co-hosting this year’s Golden Globes ceremony, and now Deadline Hollywood reports that the pair have received an “informal invitation” from NBC and Dick Clark Productions “to gauge their interest” in coming back and hosting the show again next year.

Their opening monologue this year took a gentle dig at Ricky Gervais‘ three-show hosting run: “As Ricky learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show two more times”, but their invitation to come back was unlikely to be made out of spite – 20 million people tuned in to the 2013 broadcast, the highest ratings the Globes have generated since 2007. Each of Gervais’ three hosting stints was peppered with insults, with the Englishman burning everyone from Bruce Willis (“Ashton Kutcher‘s dad”) to Mad Mel (“I like a drink as much as the next man. Unless the next man is Mel Gibson“)

Whether or not the two can fit the gig into their schedules is yet to be seen – Fey is busy executive producing two new comedies this year, while Poehler is penning her memoir. But for the sake of making awards shows watchable, let’s hope they make it happen.
