If there’s one thing we can already thank 2019 for, it’s Olivia Colman’s well-deserved rise into the general consciousness. Though not exactly an unknown – with leading roles in Peep Show, That Mitchell and Webb Look, The Lobster and The Crown under her belt – it was her brilliant, Oscar-winning turn as Queen Anne that’s finally brought the British actress to the world’s attention.
Well, that and the fact that her award speeches are fucken adorable.

In case you haven’t been following her stellar trajectory, Colman’s spent most of 2019 winning a bunch of Best Actress gongs for her role in The Favourite, including a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, and, yes, an Academy Award.
Which means we’ve been treated to a whole bunch of absurdly charming speeches courtesy Norwich’s finest – and now some internet legend has gone and mashed them up into a supercut with the theme from The Favourite laid over the top.

Her telling her idol Glenn Close “this is not how I wanted it to be” will live on forever in my top 10 moments of Oscar awards acceptance speeches, topped only by her extremely relatable exclamation of “Oh, Lady Gaga! Aaargh!”
Truly we do not deserve her. All hail the Queen.
