Olivia Colman Causes An Oscars Upset, Beating Gaga & Glenn Close For Best Actress

Lady Gaga stans are notoriously passionate about their queen, so for this year’s Academy Awards, where Gaga was nominated for Best Original Song and Best Actress In A Leading Role for A Star Is Born, they’ve hit their all-time fandom high. Who can blame them? This is Peak Hollywood, people!

While Lady Gaga did take out the award for best song, she unfortunately just got pipped at the post for Best Actress, the the Oscar going to veteran actor Olivia Colman for her role in The Favourite. I mean, the woman did a bang-up brilliant job. So well, WELL deserved.

According to Lady Gaga’s fans, that doesn’t matter. They’re mad. And they’ve taken to Twitter to express that.

Olivia, being the eternal & humble sweetheart she is, gave an adorable speech in which she seemed genuinely shocked and extremely chuffed by her win.

“This is genuinely stressful,” she said of winning. “It’s hilarious.”

It’d be hard to hate her after hearing it tbh, even if you were rooting for Gaga or the other fave tipped to win, Glenn Close. Both of whom she gave shout-outs to.

Also Gaga herself was a gracious loser, loving Olivia winning something sick:

CONGRATS OLIVIA. You deserve it.
