SNL Writer Deletes School Shooting Tweet Mocking Trump’s Young Son

Saturday Night Live loves getting under Donald Trump‘s skin with Alec Baldwin‘s impression, but one of the show’s writers has come under fire for a below-the-belt Tweet targeted at the President’s 10-year-old son Barron
Katie Rich, who joined the SNL writing staff in 2013 after a tenure in Second City, was Tweeting after yesterday’s inauguration, and said that young Barron “will be this country’s first homeschool shooter.”
The Tweet was up for around three hours before Rich deleted it, and she set her account to private a short time later. Screengrabs, though, were already in circulation, and the writer quickly came under fire.
While Trump is more than fair game, his ten-year-old son is not so much, and Rich was criticised for unfairly targeting and bullying Barron, with some calling for her employer NBC to give her the sack.
“Kids are off limits, and the internet is forever,” wrote one on Twitter while many others called on Rich to apologise for picking on a 10-year-old.
Donald himself, who is no fan of SNL, hasn’t yet made a statement about the Tweet, although the newly-installed president will probably find the time between signing executive orders to take a spray on Twitter.
Elsewhere, Modern Family star Julie Bowen was criticised for singling out Barron after posting a number of much more lighthearted screengrabs of him looking bored during the live feed of the inauguration.
If you missed it, the single greatest thing to arise from the whole day day was Michelle Obama‘s less-than-impressed face, the meme the world needs in 2017.
