Here’s How Team Trump Are Responding To That Huge Stormy Daniels Interview

Yesterday, Americans were gripped to their television screens as porn star Stormy Daniels recounted spanking President Donald Trump with a rolled up magazine featuring his own face, and Trump’s alleged cover-up of their affair. 2018 is wild.

But since that interview went to air, the Trump lot have been relatively quiet. The closest Donald’s come to a statement has been a vague, all-inclusive “fake news” tweet, and adult sons Eric and Don Jr have remained silent on the issue.

The official White House response comes from Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah, who denied both the affair and the parking lot threats from Trump’s goons.

“With respect to that interview, I will say the president strongly, clearly has consistently denied these underlying claims. The only person who’s been inconsistent is the one making the claims,” he said.

But Melania Trump‘s personal press secretary has pleaded with media to leave Trump’s long-limbed son Barron‘s name out of the whole situation. Stormy didn’t mention Barron in yesterday’s interview, but given the timing of the affair – shortly after Barron’s birth – it’s basically inevitable that he would come up at some point.

“While I know the media is enjoying speculation & salacious gossip, Id (sic) like to remind people there’s a minor child who’s (sic) name should be kept out of news stories when at all possible,” FLOTUS communications director Stephanie Grisham tweeted.

Of course the White House would take this stance, but there’s truly nothing more exhausting right now than people debating the newsworthyness of Stormy Daniels. Yes, it’s really salacious and entertaining to hear about Trump getting spanked with his own face, but it’s also important that the President allegedly threatened the woman’s safety and illegally paid her off with election funds. Groundbreaking though this concept is, it’s possible to be interested in both parts of the story.

Meanwhile, Daniels is suing Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen for defamation after he called into question her claim that she had “a sexual encounter” with Trump, and 60 Minutes has released a press statement bragging about its ratings that seemed to have the specific intention of goading Trump’s famously thin skin.

Anyway. Carry on with your Tuesdays as normal, folks.
