Save The Date Trailer: Alison Brie & Lizzy Caplan Engage Indie Bachelorettes

Third time’s a charm – or a lady – where matters of movie matrimony, Alison Brie and Lizzy Caplan are concerned. Collectively this is the pair’s third sororal/nuptial romantic comedy for the year; Brie took a turn as an Elmo-impersonating picture of literally harmonious marriage opposite Emily Blunt and Chris Platt in The Five Year Engagement; and Caplan racked up some serious gross-out rom com points in unconventional disaster film, Bachelorette. However, things now look like they’re taking a turn for the somber in Save The Date, a Sundance acclaimed indie rom com from the people that bought you Sundance acclaimed indie rom coms like The Kids Are Alright and Garden State.

While the trailer probably won’t get your heart racing above an appropriately heartbroken 60-80 BPM, the strength of the cast alone, which includes Martin Starr, Mark Webber, Melonie Diaz, Geoffrey Arend and Timothy Busfield, is reason enough to save a date* (just not October 19th) sometime in the near future for this one. That is, if you have an opinion on marriage, enjoy Alison Brie, Lizzy Caplan, busting genre tropes, brunettes, hipster romances gone awry and line drawings. I think that pretty much covers everyone.
