Rihanna Twists The Knife By Saying She And Drake Aren’t Even Mates Right Now

For a hot minute back in 2016, the tantalising possibility of a relationship between Rihanna and Drake had fans obsessed. Instead of focussing solely on the release of her record ANTI, pop music fans were subjected to overtures and even billboards from Drake professing his adoration for the singer. And then, there was his speech at the VMAs, in which Drake told the world he’d been in love with her since the age of 22.

It was a heady time for folks who wanted to see two music powerhouses collaborate on a level deeper than Work. But two years and a couple of massive business enterprises later, Rihanna has used a new Vogue profile to reveal exactly where she’s at with Drake: nowhere.

After describing the speech as “the most uncomfortable” part of the night, she clearly stated her current standing with the Canadian chart-topper.

“We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is,” she said.

Yep. After all of that grandstanding, all of those compliments and gestures, Rihanna has relayed the fact she’s zero percent involved with Drake, even on a friendly level.

The admission is hardly the most substantial part of the feature, which touches on her strong business acumen, her inclusivity-minded cosmetics and lingerie endeavours, and even her rumoured romance with the supposed heir to a US $1.5b fortune.

But it’s still pretty interesting. Marvin’s Room 2, coming up.
