It’s a well known Hollywood fact that the final icing on the I’m totally a proper A-List big-shot now cake is to snare a role in a gang-busting franchise or an animated sure-hit. Rebel Wilson has done both, landing a role in Kung Fu Panda 3 alongside Bryan Cranston and Mads Mikkelsen. If the billing alongside Heisenberg and TV’s Hannibal Lecter wasn’t intimidating enough, Wilson will share the vocal booth with franchise mainstays, Angelina Jolie, Jack Black and Seth Rogen. Proper bigwig.
In addition to news of her prized franchise spot, Wilson appeared on Jay Leno’s The Tonight Show dropping a vintage Rusty story about a brief and undignified (for him) meeting with Russell Crowe. Having received the Nicole Kidman Scholarship at the Australian Theatre for Young People, the pre-fame Wilson spotted Kidman dinning with Crowe.
“I thought now is my chance to say thank you and I went up to them but
before I could say anything Russell Crowe looked at me and says ‘Fuck
off’,” she said. “So I just like put my head down and walked away. But
thanks Nicole.”
Wilson’s next gig will see the former Fat Pizza star co-hosting the MTV Movie Awards, with her fellow Pitch Perfect cast members, this Sunday.
“It’s pretty full on. I have to dance, I have to sing, I have do jokes. I have to try to look hot – that will probably be the hardest one,’ she laughed, before Leno interjected: ‘You’re beautiful!’ Awe, bless.
Oh yeah, and she also got to hang out with Hanson. Wow!
