Life’s been a bit of a whirlwind for Camilla Cabello as of late. After stunning people at the Grammys and taking out her first Billboard Hot 100 number one, it really does feel like the world is her oyster.
Now, a month after news broke that Steven Spielberg will remake the West Side Story movie/musical, and there’s a fair bit of murmuring that Camila could be up for the lead role of Maria.
It would make sense, Cabello would for sure bring some star power to the role and I hear she’s considered pretty good at singing. Additionally, a casting call came out last month for latina actors between 15-25 to audition for the central roles, she’d have to be pre bloody foolish to pass up an opportunity like this.
Fans are pretty keen on the prospect as well, with more than a few taking to Twitter to voice their delight.

Although some people aren’t too happy that the film’s lead, who is famously Puerto Rican in the film, would actually be from Cuba.
