‘My Kitchen Rules’ Best Friends Reveal They’re Actually In A Same Sex Marriage

In reality television news only slightly more surprising than the revelation that the Logan Twins were in fact two separate bodies who evidently shared the same brain, the two My Kitchen Rules ‘best friends’ most likely to be described as ‘bubbly’, ‘kooky’ and ‘quirky’, Tresne and Carly, have today revealed that they’re in a long-term same-sex relationship.
Speaking with Seven network affiliate New Idea, the affable couple said that they asked producers on the show not to disclose the nature of their relationship as “We wanted to go on the show as ourselves and have people judge us on our cooking and not our sexual preference.”
Per news.com.au, Tresne added “We applied to be on MKR and said we were best friends… but producers picked up we were a couple straight away. They picked it up after the second instant restaurant, even though we are not a couple who indulge in public displays of affection.” The show’s other couples and judges have reportedly been nothing but supportive.
In anticipation of inevitable protestations like a) “Who?”, b) “Who cares?” and c) “Why is this still news?”, the answers you’re looking for are: a) “Two extremely popular contestants on Australia’s most watched free-to-air television program”; b)”The majority of Australians who watch free-to-air television and, inevitably, you for having an opinion in the first place”; and c) “Because positive and diverse LGBTQI role models are still notably absent from the landscape of mainstream Australian media, despite their increasing visibility and despite the fact that even though research suggests a majority of Australians are in support of same-sex marriage, not all couples are allowed full and equal legal status under Australian marriage law” respectively.
My Kitchen Rules airs on Seven pretty much all the time.
