Popular mummy blogger Sophia Cachia has opened up about the dark side of internet fame, including the load of hate she cops from online trolls.

Speaking on Mamamia‘s podcast, the mother-of-two recounted a story about discovering that one of her most critical trolls was actually someone she once considered a friend.
“I know for a fact, that there’s one woman, who I have known in my life, who I was once friends with, who works in the media at times, who was trying to build her way up – I know she is one of my biggest trolls,” she said.
“I don’t know if she knows that I know that. I’ve had lawyers, I’ve had everything, I’ve been with the police – I know this girl who was in my life for years is one of my biggest trolls,” she added.
The “I don’t know if she knows that I know” statement implies that said friend somehow had her identity hidden, perhaps by commenting from a private account or business account that she didn’t realise could be traced back to her.
Last year to combat all the negativity, Sophia decided to limit comments only to those who she followed and who followed her back.
“I use Instagram’s setting that only allows people that I follow to write on my photos if they wish.”
“At the moment, I have control over my own channel, and so I should,” she added
She also discusses the way her attitude towards posting has changed.
“I just post a pic I like and move on with my day now, instead of trawling through thousands of comments from strangers,” she said.
Earlier this week, Cachia announced that she and her partner had separated.
“One thing we’ve learnt from both of our families is to be a loyal, united force no matter what, and as Jaryd & I go on different journeys individually – we will forever be best mates & a family first,” she wrote on Insta.
“How lucky are we all to have you Jaryd. Happy Father’s Day! You are truly the best Dad to our babies I could ever imagine having, and forever my soulmate. We all love you so much.”
