Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey was billed as the interview of the year, and it did not disappoint. In fact, it might be the death knell for the royal family. (Can you IMAGINE? Lizzie would shit a brick, or at the very least, a clotted cream scone.)
As well as some fluffy revelations (Meghan and Harry were married in secret before the royal wedding! They’re having a baby girl!), Meghan made some gut-wrenching confessions, including that at one point she felt close to suicide.
She spoke quite candidly about “the Firm” (a somewhat derogatory term for the royal family and institution) and its inability – or unwillingness – to protect her.
Some of the biggest revelations include:
- Concerns were raised over “how dark” Meghan and Harry’s child would be.
- Harry has been cut off financially since mid-2020, and only has the money his mother, Princess Diana, left him.
- Prince Charles stopped taking Harry’s calls (although they’re now talking again).
- Meghan believed she would be protected by the royal family, but was not.
This piece was going to be a light-hearted round up of Twitter reactions to the interview, but instead, it’s mostly people ready to overthrow the entire British monarchy.
Here’s one funny one for ya:

And now, the rest. The Americans are ready to throw another tea party.
Oprah just woke up one day and was like “you know what, I’m bored. Lemme take down the British monarchy”

The monarchy is repulsive. This began as a dishy watch but it’s gotten genuinely upsetting. Also, Oprah is such a good interviewer.

I think we all knew when Suits first premiered that it would eventually topple the British Monarchy.

And, of course, some tweets about how the Queen – whom Harry and Meghan said they still get along with – will be reacting when she wakes up and smells the shit.
