Dean, The New Asshole On ‘MAFS’, Is Heartbroken You Think He’s Sexist

In absolutely devastating news, the wildly sexist flog from Married At First Sight is pretty heartbroken to hear that you think he’s sexist.

When we first met Dean, it was to hear him say that, “It’s hard to say without sounding sexist or something, but I like a girl that is a girl, she’s girly, and she knows that I’m the man and that I’m in charge,” in a MAFS promo. It received widespread backlash, and was compared to being little better than a pro-domestic violence ad. (Channel 9 refused to comment on the negativity.)

On Monday night, the Australian audience got to see the 39-year-old “unapologetically proud alpha male” for what he was: an unapologetically huge asshole.

“My perfect wife would be tall, beautiful, brunette, definitely like a slim girl and loving your makeup and your nice shoes. That’s what women are all about and that’s what us men are attracted to,” said the executive creative director from NSW.

MAFS‘s matchmakers – rather than throwing out Dean’s application on sight – paired him with Tracey, a 34-year-old Perth woman who also has “traditional gender values” and the requisite good looks Dean so utterly requires.

“She’s got a good body, tall but not too tall, and just a really good rig and just beautiful, big eyes, big lips, good smile, she’s gorgeous,” Dean told viewers as Tracey walked down the aisle. Later, he added: “I’m not going to lie, I kept looking down to her chestal area and yeah, that’s just another bonus really. I couldn’t help it, I’m a man and it’s just natural.”

Yesterday, Dean and Tracey swung by the Today Show studios for the first of several media appearances, where Karl Stefanovic gave him a bit of a drilling.

KARL: You have got tongues wagging this morning. you probably are amongst the most controversial, dare I say hated men in Australia this morning. How do you feel about that?

DEAN: Oh, it hurts my feelings a little bit.

KARL: No it doesn’t.

DEAN: Maybe a little. I just hope people give me a chance to show them who I am, but that’s their opinion.

KARL: And who are you?

DEAN: Oh look, I’m just myself. The whole “alpha male” thing has been blown a bit out of proportion, I just like to take responsibility for my life and for my partner and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.

KARL: And you had some interesting things to say that people didn’t like. When you first saw Tracey, what did you think?

DEAN: Oh, I thought she was beautiful. Yeah, I was very impressed.

KARL: You had other things to say though.

DEAN: Ohhhh. About… certain… areas…

KARL: Yeah. Which I guess is old school language at best, and sexist at worst.

DEAN: Okay.

KARL: And offensive.

DEAN: You think it’s offensive?

KARL: I think so.

DEAN: What specifically?

KARL: Well I’m not doing to say it on breakfast television. But do you regret any of those comments?

DEAN: Ahh – I wouldn’t say I regret any of those comments, no. I don’t think Tracey was offended by any of that, so that’s the main person whose opinion I’m worried about, so, yeah.

And then later, Dean told News Corp that he was heartbroken over the whole situation.

“I personally don’t think anything I said was sexist and it breaks my heart for people to think I’m sexist because that’s not who I am at all … I’m a little nervous that people are going to judge me it’s a little nerve-racking, considering what’s happened already. It’s disappointing and hurts my feelings.”

Buddy, you went on a national dating show to espouse views that would be considered out-of-date and sexist at your local pub, let alone when presented to the entirety of Australia. Suck it up.
