Creative personnel from Cannes-slaying David Michod thriller The Rover will participate in an in-depth panel about filmmaking, and you’re all invited.
Vivid Ideas and Sydney Film Festival have teamed up for a panel event on the making of the film called Inside The Rover bringing together filmmaker David Michod, cast members Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson and producer Liz Watts in a panel discussion moderated by Australia’s first lady of cool earrings, disagreeing with David and film criticism, Margaret Pomeranz.
The film, written and directed by Michod, from an idea conceived in conjunction with Joel Edgerton, stars Pearce (Memento, LA Confidential, Prometheus), Pattinson (Your dreams), Scoot McNairy (Killing Them Softly, Argo), Gillian Jones (Oscar and Lucinda, The Tree), and previous Animal Kingdom players Anthony Hayes and Susan Prior. It takes place in a dystopian near-future and follows Pearce’s Eric as he hunts down the gang of criminals who stole his car and possessions. Along the way he enlists the help of Rey (Pattinson) a “naive and injured” member of the gang who was left behind.
It will be interesting to see how Pomeranz engages with R Patz, a performer she has previously described as “such a mopey actor” with “very little charm” and a great torso.
