The Love Island Finale Proved That Not All Contestants Are In It For Fame, Fortune & Followers

Australia, meet your Love Island Australia 2021 winners: fan faves Mitch Hibberd and Tina Provis.

The lucky pair took out the title during last night’s episode of the ~dreamy~ dating series.

They were voted Australia’s favourite couple, winning the nation’s hearts over fellow finalists Chris Graudins and Zoe Clish, along with Jess Velkovski and Aaron Waters.

As per Love Island Australia tradition, the winners were given an envelope at the end of the ep, one containing $50,000, and the other containing nothing.

Tina had to chose whether she would split the money, or nab it all for herself, thus signifying if she was there for dollarydoos or lurve.

In the end, she chose lurve. BLESS.

Honestly, ya gal could’ve gone fuck it, I want this dosh and this man can get stuffed, so sure, I’ll look like a total c*nt on TV, but I’m gonna keep the dough for myself and be rich!

But nup, she chose to split it with her boy and the pair seem to be madly in love, which is noice to see.

By comparison, remember when Big Brother 2021 ended and winner Chad, who had previously vowed to give some of his winnings to his BB GF Sophie, turned around and decided to keep it all for himself? He had every right to do so, but still, it was certainly going back on his promise of being happy to share the dough because he’d found a gal. Well, this is the opposite of that.

Not only that, but also Mitch was already an AFL star, he didn’t need the show to find fame. He was clearly in it for the right reasons and for that, he deserves the prize money!

“I did not expect to meet someone so special or to make it through to the finale – and with a boyfriend!” Love Island Australia 2021 winner Tina said. “But our connection was instant and I’m grateful for the journey we’ve share. I can’t wait for our future together and I’m very very thankful to the Australian public for believing in us.”

AFL star Mitch added: “I’d never thought walking into the villa that I’d find someone like Tina. I’ve come out of this amazing experience with my first girlfriend and have grown into a better version of myself. We’ve laughed, cried, and made great memories along the way – to win the show on top of that is huge!”

Chookas to a fabulous season!

If you missed the eps or want to catch up on the drama, Love Island Australia Season 3 is now streaming on 9Now.
