Lena Dunham Gave A Powerful Speech On Surviving A Sexual Assault

Earlier this weekend, Lena Dunham was honoured at Variety’s annual Power Of Women event in New York, and she accepted her award with characteristic Dunham sass and charm.
Her acceptance speech, in typical Lena Dunham fashion, covered a lot of ground. She spoke about the development of her feminist perspective, and about surviving a sexual assault.
“It took years to recognize my personal worth was not tied to my assault,” she said. “The voices telling me I deserved this were phantoms, they were liars.”
“So as a feminist, as a sexual assault survivor, my ultimate goal is to use my experience, my platform, and yes, my privilege, to reverse stigma and give voice to other survivors.”
