Look, normally we’re dead-set loathe to report on anything these two clowns do. But for this one we’re making an exception, mostly because we’re not entirely sure if it’s genuinely hilarious, or the supreme height of arrogance.
Truth be told, it’s probably a little of both.
For better or much, much worse, Kyle & Jackie O are a ratings force in the world of Sydney radio. The KIIS FM duo consistently dominates in the FM ratings with their breakfast show, and even managed to maintain that mantle despite a recent (minor) ratings tumble.
And don’t they bloody well know it, too.
The ‘number one’ mantle is pretty core to their huge ego-driven personalities; precisely the kind of attitude that creates a show that grabs a number one slot in breakfast FM radio, to be fair.
But when show director Derek Bargwana decided to play a little prank on the duo, things got a bit interesting in a hurry.
Bargwana is normally tasked with delivering ratings news to Kyle and Jackie when the numbers arrive. This time, however, he decided to pull a little prank on them, informing them that rival show Rove & Sam had beaten them and taken the number one spot.
And, look. It’s about as typical a reaction as you’re ever likely to get out of the pair. Jackie swears her head off, whilst Kyle rubbishes their rivals. Wash, rinse, repeat.
‘Course Bargwana then went on to reveal that it was, in fact, a mere ruse. A revelation that was met with relieved and knowing jeers because of course Rove & Sam could never beat us that is literally impossible.
