Kyle and Jackie O Reassert Dominance Over Inane FM Radio Audience; Place Equal First In Listener Survey

The KIISFM breakfast radio dyad comprised of noted anti-dickhead campaigner Kyle Sandilands and his legal guardian Jackie O[‘Neil] have tied with their Australian Radio Network stablemates Jonesy and Amanda from WSFM for the title of the most listened to FM commercial radio station in Sydney in the first ratings survey conducted since their widely-publicised defecting from Southern Cross Austereo’s 2DayFM in November last year.
According to the year’s first poll conducted by new ratings provider GfK, Kyle and Jackie O – who started from the bottom with a 3.8% audience share – have provoked a mass exodus of loyal listeners from their previous network, leading to an increased audience share of 9.3%.
Conversely, in the most dysfunctional inversion of circumstance since The Hot Chick (2002), their four replacements on 2DayFM have fallen from a 10.4% share to an underwhelming 3.8%.
Apparently indifferent to the core concept behind ordinal numbers, Kyle and Jackie O have this morning shared a champagne showers team victory portrait declaring their number one status in Sydney (pictured above) – despite sharing the title with their more mature counterparts on WSFM; that, and the fact that 2GB still holds the largest audience share overall with 12.6%. Semantics: who needs ’em?

Regardless of what you think of Sandilands and O’Neil [very little to nothing at all are both viable options] these are terrifyingly impressive audience figures indicative not only of their continued, pervasive influence and that people evidently really love Kyle and Jackie O, but also the astonishing fact that people are still listening to radio at all. ¯_(-_-)_/¯
