It’s a baby bonanza in Kardashian–Jenner land at the moment, with Kim Kardashian and hubby Kanye West expecting a baby via surrogate, and her younger sisters Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner also hotly rumoured to be with child.
Seriously, Kris Jenner must be thrilled at these TV storylines just writing themselves.
Anyway, with Kimye’s third bun currently in someone else’s oven, we do have some questions about how the whole surrogate process all works.
Thankfully, the ladies of The Real were plenty nosy during Kim’s recent appearance on the talk show, and asked whether the surrogate knew she was carrying the hallowed fetus of the 37-year-old reality star.
Kim revealed: “She didn’t know at the beginning…you could do it totally anonymously. You could go that route.”
But the star explained that she wanted to be upfront with the woman, so ended up coming clean about the A-list status of the spawn.
I just felt like, whoever is carrying my baby, what if they weren’t a fan of me or my husband? What if they didn’t want to be carrying our baby? I wanted to give them that choice, and be proud and on the same page. I wanted a relationship with her.
Turns out the surrogate has watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians, in which Kim has spoken honestly about her previous struggles with placenta accreta, a condition which means the placenta grows into the uterus causing a high-risk pregnancy (hence her decision to use a surrogate the third time around).
“She was really excited,” Kim told The Real of the surrogate. “She’d seen my struggle and seen how open I was about it, so she was really proud to do it.”
