Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have hired a surrogate to carry their third bub, according to multiple reports from both TMZ and People.
Apparently, the couple will pay an unnamed surrogate $US45,000 ($59,000) in $US4500 ($5900) monthly instalments to carry their child.
TMZ reports breathlessly that the surrogate is banned from smoking, drinking and drugs, and can’t have sex leading up to the pregnancy and for three weeks following embryo implantation, which all sounds pretty stock standard for a surrogacy or pregnancy. Let’s be real here.
Kim has spoken out in the past on her TV show about surrogacy – as she has a condition, placenta accreta, which would make a third pregnancy extremely risky. Placenta accreta is when placenta grows on the walls of the womb, meaning it is unlikely to properly detach during a birth.
“Not only has this been really painful, but now hearing that I can’t carry any more kids, it couldn’t get any worse,” she said on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
“I mean, fuck, like I really tried everything and I really want this and it’s just not going to happen for me.”
The 36-year-old also confirmed at the time that surrogacy was 100% an option for her and Kanye. “After talking to Kanye, I think that I always knew that surrogacy was an option, but I didn’t think it was that realistic of an option,” she said.
“Now, I feel like that’s my reality.”
There has been, at this time, no official confirmation from the Kardashian-West camp.
