We’re honestly still bloody reeling over the news that some poor bloke in USA’s deep South got so brutally catfished that he legitimately believed himself to be dating Katy Perry for six whole years.
“I have been talking to this woman for the last 6 years. I’m in love with her. She’s awesome. It’s Katy Perry… the singer.”
We published an article earlier this month about the guy, who will feature on an upcoming episode of ‘Catfish’ – he story came to light after the show aired their new promo for the episode.
The bloke was smitten with his famous girlfriend, that he’d actually had an engagement ring made for her, using his grandmother’s emerald. His love turned out to be a woman called Heather, who lives in England.
Perry has finally made a statement on the heartbreaking situation, saying she’d been sent an article about it and couldn’t even make it all the way through because it was “very sad”.
She was a guest on the Sirius XM‘s “Morning Mashup” radio show in the US, and told the hosts,
“Yes, somebody sent me a link. I didn’t actually read through it, because I just think it’s really unfortunate and very sad.Yeah, you know, not everyone can be, but I think that, you know, my heart goes out to him, actually,” she said, “because anybody that’s been fooled like that or just you know… People have dreams, and people live in different parts of the world where not everything is as accessible.Like, we live on the coast, and you know, we get stuff in a way that some other people don’t get, and so I feel bad for him. And so I didn’t really like to indulge in that, because my heart would die.”
Well.. he might not have been dating her, but at least the guy can know that Katy Perry knows his name? Is that sort of comforting? Oh god this is so soul-crushing.
