Karl Stefanovic‘s former wife Cassandra Thorburn has gotten wind of his new engagement to model and shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough, and oh boy, she certainly seems to have some thoughts on the matter, and is not holding them back.
Speaking to Fairfax Media about the situation, Thorburn said: “I am just focused on helping those affected by the ever-changing landscape of my ex-husband’s life, to navigate it. His engagement doesn’t register with me on any other level.”
Karl Stevfanovic’s relationship with Yarbrough became public around five months after his split from Thorburn, and their engagement was revealed last week after she was spotted rocking a hefty $120k engagement ring at the Harper’s Bazaar 20th anniversary bash.
Stefanovic and Thorburn were married for 21 years, and have three children, aged 18, 12 and 10. Speaking to Woman’s Day after the split, Thorburn said she found the first few months of life as a single mother difficult, and would spend days at a time “lying in a heap.”
She said that since then, her outlook has improved, and her focus is on her family, adding:
“I get up every day with only one purpose – to make sure my three beautiful kids are happy – everything else really doesn’t matter. I’m only concentrating on being strong in every way, and being the best mum I can be.”
She said of the separation:
“I realised I was going through stages of grief, and to me it was like someone had died. The children still have a father but I don’t have a husband. He really is dead to me and no, we won’t ever be friends again.”
