Julian Assange To Play Himself On The Simpsons

It’ll take more than house arrest to keep Julian Assange off your television screens this year. Adding to a duo of forthcoming projects including Channel Ten series Underground – The Julian Assange Story (based on the Suelette Dreyfus book “Underground” about an 18 year old activist who allegedly hacks the CIA website) and a recently announced chat show (we’re thinking Jerry Springer for people with Computer Science degrees) where he’ll speak with “key political players, thinkers and revolutionaries” and “explore the possibilities for our future in conversations with those who are shaping it.”, is a coveted Simpsons cameo to mark the show’s 500th episode.

According to EW, the professional whistle blower will star as himself and was tracked down by a Bounty Hunter slash Casting Director when Simpsons creator Matt Groening heard a rumour that Assange was interested in guest-starring. Here’s an artist impression of what Assange’s character may look like.
