Watch The First Trailer For The Julian Assange Telemovie

After serving Aussies viewers with more turkeys than a Thanksgiving Day eating competition (I don’t know) Channel Ten might have finally found something to hang their hat on. Seriously. The network has just released a not terrible looking trailer for the forthcoming Julian Assange: The Wonder Years Underground: The Julian Assange Story, a 90 minute telemovie surrounding the cripplingly slow pre-ICQ hacking days of embattled Wikileaks founder and noted Pussy Riot fanboy, Julian Assange.

Newcomer Alex Willams stars in the titular role opposite Emmy nominees Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under) as Assange’s mother Christine and Anthony LaPaglia (Lantana, Looking For Alibrandi) as detective Ken Roberts, who spends a portion of the trailer explaining to his peers what the internet is. Bless. The telemovie is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and was adapted by Balibo’s Robert Connolly from the book of the same name by Suelette Dreyfus.

Underground will air later this year on Ten.
