Watch Julian Assange’s Simpsons Cameo

The Simpsons, waning cultural phenomenon and the reason we thought Channel Ten was Australia’s most profitable television station when we were in High School, marked its landmark 500th episode this week with a brief cameo from Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, a guy who obviously excels at document leaking and dancing like no one’s watching but whose non computer talents end at voice acting.

In the episode, Marge, Homer, Lisa and Bart meet Assange after they are exiled out of town for all the trouble they’ve caused Springfield over the years. Sounds remarkably like the Good Samaritan Act in the Seinfeld finale, no? Assange, currently under house arrest in Britain and awaiting the ruling of seven British Supreme Court judges on his extradition to Sweden for sexual assault charges, recorded his part in a secret location just outside of London, and, guessable numerical passwords aside, remains just as secretive in cartoon form.

Case in point? When Bart asks how he’s doing Assange replies: “That’s my personal information and you have no right to know about it!”
