An Ode To Jesse McCartney’s Horny Leavin’ Music Video, Which Irrevocably Turned Me Gay

Jesse McCartney

If I were to blame one thing in this universe for turning me gay, it would be the video for Leavin’ by Jesse McCartney. Coming in second would be the men’s underwear section at Kmart, which is for some reason inexplicably horny. But hey, we’re here to talk about the power that Leavin’ had on my childhood.

Truly I had no business being so obsessed with this song at the age of 11, but alas, it transformed me into a home of sexual. The video is like the perfect amount of subtle horny energy, so like it was probably aired during some music video channel that I stumbled across, and I was forever changed that day.

I mean, throughout the vid, a near-shirtless Jesse sings to a disinterested looking woman, then proceeds to make out with her and remove her clothing. Okay maybe the video is VERY horny, but there was something about it that was so alluring to a young homosexual me.

Maybe it was the tiny glimpse of shirtlessness throughout the clip which never pays off into a full reveal, or maybe it was the fact that the woman appeared very unamused, and that Jesse was singing about leaving her. ‘He clearly doesn’t want the woman’, an 11-year old boy in Western Sydney was thinking. So that means… he’s free, and also not into women. Interesting.

I truly didn’t even consider my gayness at this point in my life, but for some reason, I was transfixed by this video. I didn’t exactly find anyone ‘hot’ at this tiny pea-brain age, but I was like, obsessed with the fact that Jesse McCartney looked so attractive throughout the clip? And the way he’s sitting? It was just so? Sexy??

Anyway, watch the clip for yourself, which I’m sure you’re well aware of if you’ve entered into this article of appreciation.

It was around the time of this video that I started to be mesmerised by men. I didn’t quite know that I was gay, but I was positively transfixed by them for reasons unknown to me. I would say that Leavin’ was probably the first time that I was like… completely changed in how I view the male species.

Did I immediately stan Jesse McCartney? Absolutely not. None of the other music videos did it for me the way that Leavin’ did. Great songs, but they just weren’t the same.

It had a power over me much like Push The Button by The Sugababes. You know, those hot music videos that you just remember for life even if not much goes on in them?

So yeah, I was supposed to see Jesse McCartney live this year, but y’know, that all went to bust. At least the Sugababes have reunited, so my skin can be clear for years to come.

Jesse, if you ever read this, thanks for making me gay.
