Early noughties teen heartthrob Jesse McCartney has just announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Katie Peterson, so I guess the wedding I planned for us in 2007 meant nothing to him.
Jesse has been dating the 32-year-old actress since 2012, and finally decided he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her beautiful soul. Big “awwwwww”.
McCartney proposed to his longtime love at Cut by Wolfgang Puck restaurant at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Friday night. According to Us Weekly, Jesse got down on one knee in front of fellow diners in the middle of their meal. Obviously, the room burst into applause and cheering for the happy couple.
“The couple was with a group of friends as McCartney got down on one knee,” a source told People. “The whole restaurant fell silent as he asked her to marry him and went into a loud applause and cheered when she said yes!”
Honestly, the fact that he didn’t perform Beautiful Soul before popping the question breaks my fucking heart.
Peterson, who is potentially the most ridiculously good looking human on the planet, is an actress and lifestyle blogger at The Rebel Blonde.
Along with the cliche kissing shot, Jesse also shared a snap of his bride-to-be showing off her ring on Instagram.
The engagement coincided with their seven year anniversary on Friday, where they shared a pamper day before Jesse popped the question.

Jesse made a return to music earlier this year after a four year hiatus, claiming he’s “more comfortable in his own skin” now.
“I think what audiences are getting now is the real, authentic me. I believe that when you’re 16 and 17 and putting out music, you don’t know yourself yet. You might be a good singer, but you don’t really feel that comfortability. You haven’t lived long enough, traveled, you haven’t met enough people, you haven’t been in enough relationships,” he told ET.
