Hands Up If Your Sexual Awakening Was Jesse McCartney Circa 2005 – 2009

If I’m honest, I was probably a little old to be crushing on Jesse McCartney as hard as I did in 2005.

Like now that I am assessing it, I probably should have checked myself. But oh well! I confess – I loved the blonde-haired, All-American tunester. If you’re here, I’m guessing you did too. Hands up if you gazed out the car window on family holidays as ‘She’s No You’ blasted through your iPod Shuffle, fantasising about JMC singing it to you at school formal!

Same. We were all that blonde girl at the end, and yet also all the other girls swivelling their heads 360 degrees as Jesse walked past. Now that I watch that video it’s like – ok mate, calm your farm you’re not THAT hot. (Jks you are Jesse, you’re the whole package).

Fun fact: my colleague Chantelle is some sort of Jesse McCartney trivia expert and has told me the girl in the above vid was Katy Cassidy, his THEN GF and eventual brief star of Gossip Girl. You learn so much in this life, don’t you.

Then, obviously, there’s the most known hit – Beautiful Soul. TBH boring to even mention given it’s *such* an obvious one, but I guess this was our entry point to JesseVille Arizona, so here we go.

Immediately replicated this whole boho 00s vibe.

baby tee, headscarf, large clunky necklace BAM!

But if I may be so bold, let me direct you to a deep cut – Leavin’. My favourite beat of the Jesse McCartney beats.

[UPDATE: I thought this was a deep cut and it turns out She’s No You is the deep cut???? What???? My life has been a lie.]

Again, now I’m watching this I’m like Jesse don’t be a CREEP, stop pleading with this girl to leave her boyfriend for you.

Wow, revisiting your idols is really depressing, huh. Whatever, the beat is still sick (I’ve reverted to my 2005 self, who says things like “this beat is sick”).

Moving on to some other tunes…

I don’t know what the fuck that video is but it involves A Cinderella Story so do we really want to question it? I think NOT.

Huge emo mood here:

Anyway few more points before I wrap this bitch up – ICYMI Jesse actually co-wrote the hit of the decade, Bleeding Love (yes really).

God that song never stops being emotional. Also want to highlight one of the best So You Think You Can Dance chorries (lol) of all time:

Anyway he was also the star of Summerland – watch this space coz my next throwback yarn will deep dive that show but for now, enjoy:

oh my GOD so much to unpack

What a time, guys.
