If Ya Loved ‘Get Out’, Jordan Peele’s Teamed Up With HBO For A New Show

Get Out was an almost unfairly good debut film from Jordan Peele. Often discussed in terms of its resounding social message, it was also just a straight up ultra-stylish horror film which was a welcome shot in the arm for the genre.

Well, if you liked Get Out, you’re in luck: Peele has teamed up with HBO and Warner Bros for a brand new series that seems like it will trace similar paths. Named Lovecraft Country and based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Matt Ruff, it’s being pushed by Peele’s production company Monkeypaw Productions.
The Hollywood Reporter has the synopsis for us:

Lovecraft Country follows 25-year-old Atticus Black, who joins up with his childhood friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America to find his missing father. The journey sets off their fight to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and malevolent spirits.

The name alone suggests some kind of connection to the supernatural weird fiction of H.P. Lovecraft – or maybe just the fact that it’ll be set around New England. Or maybe it’s a reference to the fact that Lovecraft – despite being one of the most influential figures on modern horror – was also a spectacularly racist man.

Also check out his head. Unrelated, but check it out:
The show’s being written by Underground executive producer and writer Misha Green, who will also serve as showrunner for the series.
