Ur Fave Witchy Trio Are Officially Reuniting On Disney+ For Hocus Pocus 2 & I’m Ready For The Chaos

Dust off your broomsticks and bring out your cauldrons because the original witchy girlies Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy are officially reprising their roles for Hocus Pocus 2.

In the original film released nearly 30 years ago (can you believe???), Parker, Midler, and Najimy played the Sanderson Sisters, a trio of iconically misandrist and child-hating witches who are accidentally resurrected after 300 years by a teenage boy and enact revenge on the town of Salem, Massachusetts.

If you’ve never seen it, it’s undeniably camp and rife with quotable gags and musical theatre bangers. I mean, Bette Midler’s “I Put A Spell On You” walked so Kathyrn Hahn’s “It Was Agatha All Along” could run.

In Hocus Pocus 2, the girls are reunited. However, instead of a teenage boy, it’s three young girls who accidentally revive them, proposing the question: will they be the Sanderson Sisters: Next Generation?

While the director of the original Hocus Pocus and of High School Musical fame, Kenny Ortega, isn’t directing this, you can still expect things to be lovably camp.

As Hocus Pocus 2’s director Anne Fletcher (27 Dresses) said in a statement shared with Deadline: “Now more than ever, people need to laugh. We should be laughing every day, and there is so much fun to be had with these three unbelievable women playing delicious characters from such a beloved film.

“I am so grateful to be able to play a part in bringing these witches back to life, and to be working with my friends at Disney again makes it all the more special. This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first film to the next generation of viewers, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Between this, Kathyrn Hahn joining the cast of Knives Out 2, and the Cher biopic from the creators of Mamma Mia, it’s a good time to be a theatre gay. Hocus Pocus 2 is slated to cast a spell on you, me, and the old supremes when it releases on Disney+ in 2022.
