It turns out Ricky Gervais‘s relentlessly harsh opening monologue from the 2011 Golden Globes wasn’t enough to have him forever banished by the Hollywood Foreign Press because they’ve asked him back for the 2012 awards.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association released an official statement confirming: “After weeks of rumours it’s finally official-Ricky Gervais will be back to host the Golden Globes for a third year. The association voted overwhelmingly for the controversial British comedian’s return.”
It’s a smart choice by the Globes, which received its biggest ratings in years following Gervais’s amazing nervous laugh-inducing rabbit punches at A-list celebrities and big movies. Sample: “Also not nominated I Love You Phillip Morris. Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. Two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay. So, the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists then.”
