For every James Franco in Spring Breakers, there’s an equal but opposite RiFF RAFF. If Yolandi Visser is to be believed, that theory extends to Jared Leto in Suicide Squad and Ninja in Die Antwoord.
In a scathing Instagram post that reads exactly as diminutive rapper speaks, Visser has ripped right the fuck into director David Ayer over his apparent “jockin” of the South African act’s entire aesthetic.
Visser details how Ayer supposedly name-dropped the group and its zef style extensively, but apparently did fuck all to reference ’em as inspiration.
A lil’ bit of heft is given to the argument when she reveals Cara Delevingne – who appeared in DA’s Ugly Boy clip – spoke to Visser and Ninja about their apparent uncredited influence on the film.
TBH, we’d be pissed if we thought our look was sneakily co-opted for a multi-million dollar blockbuster too. Peep the clip to see what Visser labels “da extent of ur two face nature.” It’s worth it for the last-second Photoshop job alone:
