Jared Leto On Playing The Joker: “It Was Like Giving Birth Out Of My Prick Hole”

Our rampant and unashamed anticipation of Suicide Squad is reaching critical levels, with Jared Leto‘s Joker appearing on the front cover of the latest subscriber issue of Empire Magazine, looking like he’s about to drop the hottest rap album of 2015.

Feast thine eyes on all its psychopathic glory:

HHNNNNGG.

In the accompanying interview, Leto – who went full method actor while filming Suicide Squad – said that playing The Joker was like “giving birth out of my prick hole,” a visual that has never been needed or wanted by anyone roaming this earth.

“There was definitely a unique period of detachment,” he said. “I took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn’t imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games. But at the same time it was very painful, like giving birth out of my prick hole.”

“I always get the sense that The Joker may be much older than people think. It’s something different. If you don’t break rules, you’re not going to strike new ground. I think I’ll be cooling down for the rest of my life.”

Both the film’s producer and director gave a few more telling insights into this character that’s looking to reach iconic levels akin to Heath Ledger‘s Joker.

Producer Charles Roven said that this Joker’s look was inspired by Mexican cartels, and that Leto’s Joker is “more social… a very successful and smart businessman besides being a sociopath.”
“There’s a power to that character,” said director David Ayer, “and by some freaking miracle, through the incredible things Jared has done and the photography and all the other millions of things that went into it, we’ve cooked up something transcendent. He’s scary.”
Screaming, tbqh with you. COULD THIS MOVIE COME OUT ANY EARLIER THAN AUGUST 2016 PLEASE?
The pages inside the Empire issue also feature tantalising glimpses of Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn, Will Smith‘s Deadshot, and Cara Delevingne‘s Enchantress to satiate your Suicide Squad thirst.
