Here’s How The ‘Deadpool 2’ Team Pulled Off That Shockingly Huge Celeb Cameo

Deadpool 2 Brad Pitt The Vanisher Cameo Cbale Josh Brolin

Deadpool 2 has been out for exactly two (2) days, but I want to talk about it with everyone because it’s SO good and just really, really funny. Everything I want out of a movie is right there in Deadpool 2, including some frankly amazing celebrity cameos.

Thanks to about 750,000 trailers being released before the film, we already knew our screens would be graced by such talent as Atlanta‘s Zazie Beets, Julian DennisonTerry Crews, and even our weird creepy clown crush Bill Skarsgård.

And obviously we knew that Cable would be played by Josh Brolin, who somehow got away with being in two huge Marvel releases for two different studios at the same time.

wow thanos looks hot AF

But there is another, major, enormous, massive celebrity cameo in Deadpool 2 that I straight-up wasn’t expecting. Like, I literally screamed when his face flashed onto the screen.

For those of you who have seen the movie (and if you haven’t WHY ARE YOU STILL READING I BLOODY WARNED YOU), I’m of course talking about The Vanisher, who Deadpool recruits for a job. When we finally see the invisible superhero’s bonce, it belongs to none other than Brad Pitt.

AHAHA YES IT ME

Brad bloody Pitt. It’s enormous stuff.

No offence to the other plebs (sorry) in this movie, but Brad is like, a next-level star. So I immediately wondered how he came to be in the movie in the first place. Turns out he was initially tapped for a lead role, with Deadpool 2 director David Leitch telling Vanity Fair:

We had approached Brad to play Cable early on, but with schedules, it didn’t allow us to cast him. We left the door open and asked him, ‘If there’s something else down the line, would you take the call?’ He said yes. So we came up with this idea, and Ryan reached out and asked, ‘Would you be interested?’ And he said yes, and was a great sport. He came out to play and was up for anything.

For people who have seen the movie, you’ll know his character literally is on screen for a few seconds before he gets very graphically killed, so you can imagine it didn’t take super long for Brad to film to blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo.

In fact, Zazie, who plays Domino in the film, told Radio Times that it was all done and dusted in a day.

I wasn’t there when he did that. I think they got some studio space and did that later on, threw him in there. I do remember hearing on set conversations that Brad Pitt might do it, woaaaaah. So I wasn’t sure if it was actually gonna happen. I saw the movie last week and I was like ‘Oh he did it!’ So, that was great.

I’m sorry, but I’m just over here recovering from the bombshell that Brad could have played Cable. Like, Josh Brolin was badass, but Brad? That would have been insane. Josh has apparently signed on for four films as Cable, so maybe Brad just couldn’t commit.

sorry too busy and important bye
