Hot dang, David Sedaris cannot get enough of Australian audiences.
The seriously brilliant American writer, humorist and speaker – of This American Life and bestselling books Me Talk Pretty One Day/Let’s Explore Diabetes With Owls etc – has announced he’s returning for his third tour Down Under in January 2016.
Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and – for the first time – Hobart get a look in on the tour, which is called ‘An Evening With David Sedaris‘.
Sedaris is seriously pumped to be returning to our blatant honesty, commenting:
“I love the airports of Australia. Security wise, they’re like stepping into a time machine and coming out in 1975. No one yells at you, you get to keep your shoes on. It’s heaven. Coming from the UK, I also appreciate how open the people are, how willing to talk about money. ‘How much did your house cost?’ I ask. ‘How much do you make per year?’ In Europe people pass out when you ask that question, but in Australia, they just jump right in and answer.”
If you’ve never been to a Sedaris show, it basically consists of him talking while everyone listens adoringly.
If you’re already a fan, you’ll know tickets sell like Golden Gaytime ice cream tubs (read: really fucking quickly) so get in quick to avoid sad feels.
